Jennifer Lee (Author)

Fantasy that lingers long after the last page

About Me

Hi, I’m Jennifer Lee, an author drawn to the space where darkness meets understanding. Writing has always been my way of exploring the fragile balance between hope and despair — and finding meaning in the shadows.
My novels, Far From Oz and Falling from Neverland, unravel haunting yet heartfelt stories about truth, loss, and healing. My upcoming book, Free from the Looking Glass, continues that journey, reflecting on identity and the illusions we must break to find ourselves.
Through my stories, I hope to reach those who’ve ever felt lost or unseen — reminding them that even in darkness, there is light to be found.

  • For most of my life, I believed I was writing about other people. I wrote about broken hearts.About loss.About courage.About children searching for hope.About people trying to forgive themselves for things they could never change. Whenever someone would ask where the ideas came from, I always had the same answer. “Real life.” These stories were… Read more

  • There is something magical about feeling the wheels of creation begin to turn once more after a project has remained silent for far too long. As writers, we often hear advice about consistency, discipline, and daily word counts. While those things certainly have their place, I have learned that some stories refuse to be rushed.… Read more

  • Today was a good day. It may not seem like much to anyone else, but today I finally wrote the chapter that has been quietly waiting for me for months. The words that had refused to come suddenly found their way onto the page, and before I knew it, they led me into the next… Read more

  • For a long time, I have talked about Far From Oz—sharing chapters, discussing the characters, and celebrating the journey it took to bring that story to life. I began drafting it in 2012, and finally reaching the point where I could say, “I’m done,” was a feeling I’ll never forget. But today, I want to… Read more

  • I recently joined another writing platform, hoping to connect with readers and find my audience. Like most social sites, the notifications never stop. New posts appear every hour, people celebrate growing follower counts, and it seems like everyone is posting every single day. Meanwhile, I wrote a few posts, joined a few conversations, and then…life… Read more

  • For the longest time, I believed there was only one way to write fantasy. It had to be poetic. Every scene had to be layered with description. Every moment had to paint a picture so detailed that the reader could walk through it exactly as I saw it. If a sentence was simple, I worried… Read more

  • For the longest time, I have been telling myself that I am doing better since the divorce. In many ways, I am. I am slowly becoming the person I truly am and letting go of the version of myself I had to be for so many years. For those who may be new to my… Read more

  • Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time working on a promotional trailer for Falling From NeverLand. While I originally created the trailer in Canva, I’ve also been experimenting with several other tools to create the right imagery and find voices that sound authentic enough to bring the story to life. Learning something completely new… Read more

  • A new story has been forming in my mind. In a world where ancient tribes carry the marks of divine beings, three powers have always ruled: Judgment, Protection, and Balance. But prophecy warns of a fourth mark. Chaos. My main character, Logan, was never meant to carry anything. Born a twin, he was supposed to… Read more

  • How I’m learning to use creative tools to bring stories like Far from Oz to life. When I first started writing, I relied on simple editing tools to help shape my work. Programs like ProWritingAid and Hemingway Editor became part of my routine. In the beginning, I used the free versions, learning what I could… Read more
